This access statement does not contain opinions about the suitability of Holme House barn for those with special access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities available to our visitors/guests.

Access Statement for Holme House Barn (grid ref. 669167)

Holme House barn is situated in a quiet rural setting in the Forest of Dean about a mile south of Mitcheldean (A4136 Gloucester to Monouth). Vehicle access is from a no through road (Jubilee Road) over a cattle grid and about 400 yards along a track (no tarmac) to a former farmyard (concreted) where there are designated parking spaces for barn visitors. Parking is less than 15 yards from the front door of the barn.
A short flagstone path leads with 1step (8cms high) to the Front door which has 2 steps (17cms and 15cms high respectively). This door is 193cm high, 95cm wide and leads into the ground floor which has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a staircase leading to the open plan lounge and kitchen/diner. Central heating is under floor on both floors of the barn. The utility room has one radiator. An electric fire can be supplied if needed.

There are 3 internal doors. . . .

All bedding is non-allergy. Towels are provided.

The staircase has 13 steps all approximately 20cm high x 80 wide.
There are two ‘landings’ on the staircase both about 80cm square.

Access to the Utility/games room is from the outside of the barn about 10 metres from the Front door. This has a washing machine, condenser drier a freezer and a second fridge. There are double doors here 195cm h x 150 cm w (75 cm wide each).

There are external lights at the front of the barn.

There is a handle for support on the wall in the bath/shower.

There is no hearing loop in the barn.

Buses from Gloucester to Coleford/Monmouth stop at the junction of Jubilee Road and the A4136.

Mobile phones frequently receive no signal inside the barn. There is a land line and broadband wireless access.

A small ‘garden’ gate, east of the car park, leads to the public footpath across a grassed field to Abenhall Road and beyond. (It leads to the Gloucestershire Way . . eastwards. The access track leads to the western end of the Gloucestershire way).
Other linked paths lead northwards/southwards.
There are boot racks in the barn and the utility room.
